Ms. Arbelaez - AVID Coordinator

Mrs. Arbelaez is the AVID Coordinator here at Jackson Middle School. She is completing her 5th year at Jackson and her
10th year teaching overall. She is a true believer in the AVID program because she sees a reflection of herself in many of the
AVID students. She is the first in her family to complete a college degree and knows she would have benefited from all of the
information, organization, and support that AVID offers. Mrs. Arbelaez learned, hands-on, the skills she needed to succeed
by working in the Financial Aid offices at Brookhaven College and University of North Texas. She has taught English to people
from all ages and walks of life in many different educational settings. Mrs. Arbelaez currently teaches some of the 8th grade AVID
elective classes. She sees Jackson as her home and treats her students like her own children (they are adorable by the way!).

Ms. Crangle - 6th grade AVID elective/Pre-AVID/Strategies for Success

Parents of AVID students, your child is required to take Cornell notes in each academic class. Please check daily that they are
reviewing the notes from that day and writing a three-sentence summary. Pre-AVID and Success students complete Learning
logs each week. They can be adding to the log each night by summarizing what they learned in class that day. Please check
your child's planner to ensure they are writing in it daily! You can reach me at ext. 2323.

Mrs. Haupfear - 7th grade AVID Teacher

Mrs. Haupfear is the 7th grade AVID teacher at Jackson Middle School this year. Although this is her first year at Jackson Middle
School, she brought with her three years of experience at Discovery Middel School where she taught reading, math, social studies,
language arts and AVID. Mrs. Haupfear transferred to Jackson because of the amazing opportunity to be a part of the outstanding
AVID program. She is a fervent advocate of AVID and greatly relishes the opportunity to continue educating and supporting students
through this empowering program. She is ecstatic about teaching AVID strategies to these students in an effort to allow them to maximize
their full potential and getting to work with such incredibly supportive administrators and teachers.
