Welcome to Jackson Middle School! My name is Mabel Rios and I am the assistant principal and
7th grade administrator. I have a passion for education and was a science teacher for fifteen years.
I was born and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico and attended Catholic University in my hometown where I
majored in chemistry and biology. I have a Masters in Science Education and Educational Leadership
from the University of Central Florida.

 

Dr. Jhunu Mohapatra - 6th grade Assistant Principal

I am the Assistant principal and the 6th grade Administrator. It is my pleasure to welcome all of you
to a wonderful 2007-2008 school year. We, at Jackson have made a commitment to our students to provide
a safe and peaceful atmosphere conducive to learning. We have exceptional educational programs like IB, AVID,
etc. that challenge their mind and prepare them for life long learning. We also possess the same level of enthusiasm
to provide for their physical well being as well. I was born in India and received my Bachelors degree in Economics from
there. I left my home with my husband 36 years ago to travel the world and raise my family. I have been in Orlando
for 22 years. Prior to my being an administrator, I taught Math for 14 years. I received my Masters in Math Education
and Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from University of Central Florida. I look forward to our school's success
that is filled with academic challenge and relevant learning!

 

Dr. Nelson Torres - Dean

It is with great pleasure that I have joined the great staff at Jackson Middle School! I am Dr. Nelson Torres,
the 6th Grade Administrative Dean and Security Officer. I have been an educator since 1993 after I retired as a
Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army where I served over 20 years. I have several masters' degrees from various
universities here in the U.S. and my Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership for the University of Central Florida.
I am from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and fully bilingual. I have a passion for education and feel that working together,
educators, parents, students and the community as a whole, we can provide the best educational environment.
Jackson Middle School has a great deal to offer to all of our students. I look forward to working with all of you
and to a great 2007-2008 school year. Please do not hesitate to call me if I can be of help!

Hello Parents and Students. This is my fifth year here at Jackson Middle School and I am extremely proud of
all our accomplishments, especially for receiving the approval to be an AVID demonstration school, as well as
offering the International Baccalaureate Middle Years program. Please know that I am committed to the educational
success and safety of our students. I am proudto be a member of the Jackson family and look forward to serving

Ms. Nelida Morales - School Secretary

This is my fourth year at Jackson Middle as School Secretary. Previously I worked at Little River and
Chickasaw Elementary schools. I have worked in the Orange County Public Schools for 16+ years.
I was born and raised in Lorain, Ohio near Cleveland. I have lived in Florida for the past 21 years.
I enjoy traveling, calligraphy writing, shopping and spending time with my nieces and nephews.
