High School Magnet Programs

During this school year, our 8th graders will receive a lot of information about High School.
As part of School Choice, Magnet Programs are offered at many high schools in our district.

• Magnet Programs have been established at most High Schools in order to provide an opportunity
  for students to engage in intensive study in specific areas.
  
• Magnet Programs are theme based programs that offers a course of study that permits the student
  to focus on interest, talents, or career goals.
  
• If a student would like to enroll in one of the Magnet Programs, an application needs to be submitted
  to the district no later than February, 16, 2009.
  
• Students will receive information about Magnet Programs at school from their guidance counselor.
  In addition, various Magnet Schools have been invited to our school for presentations on their
  Magnet Programs.
  
• A Magnet Fair will be held at Jones High School on Thursday, October 23, 2008 from
  5- 8 pm.
• Applications will be available on the district website, www.ocps.net under the department of School
  Choice or in the 8th grade guidance counselor's office.
